Play an important role in the federal government's pilot program to assist temporary visa holders leaving violent relationships
Your New OrganisationOne of the State's largest community legal organisations is participating in a pilot program supporting women on temporary visas who are experiencing domestics and family violence. Through this new program, you will be involved in the provision of immigration legal support to those eligible women.
Your New Role
Working alongside some of the most passionate and talented female lawyers, your day to day role will include:
- Providing legal advice, case work and representation in the area of migration law to women who hold a temporary visa (including bridging visa or no visa), who are experiencing domestic and family violence and are financially disadvantaged; and
- Representing clients in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court of Australia, Magistrates Court and Children's Court as a solicitor advocate or briefing counsel where appropriate.

- At least 4 years PAE with a background in migration law (experience in family law and domestic violence, child protection and child support are desirable).
- Experience in litigation and court advocacy in the Federal Circuit Court and Federal Court of Australia, Magistrates Court and Children's Court.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and well-developed relationship management skills.
