About the role: We are currently seeking a Site Accountant to join our CMJV mine. The CMJV has open-cut operations at Coppabella and Moorvale mines located 150 kilometres west of Mackay that produce metallurgical PCI coal. Reporting to the Commercial Superintendent, the scope of your role will be to perform management accounting functions, with consideration to legislation, policy and procedure. This role is suited to someone who is a recent graduate or 1-2 years accounting experience.
Duties will include:- Carry out cost accounting, forecasting budgeting and reporting functions
- Perform analysis, review and commentary on forecasting and budget
- Prepare cost reports to outline results and key issues and present results at weekly meetings
- Prepare Capital reports for review and assist with capital request economics
- Perform regular contractor and supplier performance reviews checking invoiced versus contractual obligations
- Liaison with various internal and external stakeholders
- Raising purchase requisitions
- Inventory reconciliations and Fixed Asset reviews
- General ledger account reconciliations
- Preparation of the site's FBT
- Support the travel and accommodation specialist in travel, accommodation and camp management
- Eventually become the commercial SAP champion
The lifestyle: This position is offered on a 9 day fortnight. The role has flexibility to allow for residential, DIDO from Mackay and surrounds or FIFO out of Brisbane.
About you:- Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or similar
- 2 years experience in a similar role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong organisational and time management skills, including ability to prioritise various projects that may be in process simultaneously
- Intermediate to advanced level of Excel
- A willingness to complete a CPA or CA or have completed already
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently and drive a financial outcome.
- Good attention to detail
- Familiar with using a financial ERP system
