- Training, directing and supervising the nursery workforce
- Planning, scheduling and resourcing all nursery tasks, including seasonal activities.
- Maintaining detailed nursery records, including daily log sheets, nursery stock data (seed stocks and storage), seedlot data, rehabilitation forward planning, and rehabilitation area plant out species lists.
- Undertaking general nursery duties, including propagation (seedling trays, cutting trays, tube stock), seed collection, preparation and storage, and tubestock planting.
- Undertaking propagation tests, including pre-germination tests, seed viability tests, cutting strike success assessments and propagule collection calculations.
- Ensuring and being accountable for the production of high-quality plants within required timeframe.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Qualification in nursery production, horticulture and/or land management practices (Cert III or above), and at least 5 years experience post-graduate experience in the field of horticulture, or
- 10+ year’s experience in commercial nursery production and operations and horticulture management.
- Demonstrated leadership and co-ordination skills and working as part of a professional team.
- Sound knowledge of plant identification.
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of pest and weed control practices.
- Experience in the mining industry (preferred)
- S1, S2, S3 Supervisor Qualifications (preferred)
- Chemical Handling Certification (preferred)
- Current Qld Drivers Licence with the ability to operate four-wheel drive.
