About Blackwater Mine:
Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline.
About the Role
The Dragline Supervisor is responsible for the safe and productive management of the Dragline team. In this role you will supervise the Dragline operators ongoing performance, maximise efficiency within the operation and ensure a high performing and safety based culture in line with Whitehaven's STRIVE values - Safety, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Value and Excellence
What You'll Do
- Supervise dragline team and operation and maintenance of supporting equipment / machinery.
- As part of the world's largest dragline stripping operation, "delivering the right coal at the right time, every time", in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Attend relevant meetings
- Inspections of the dragline equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition. Ensure any defects or malfunctions are reported to the maintenance team for repairs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Identify and report safety hazards or concerns to the appropriate personnel for corrective action.
What You'll Bring
- Supervision experience and accreditation S1, S2 and S3 in open-cut mining
- Current RII Competency in conducting Dragline and Dozer Operations
- Ability to adhere and live the Whitehaven Values and contribute to a collaborative organisational culture
- Current Unencumbered "C" Class Drivers Licence
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a team
- Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical accreditation
