Stratton is seeking applications for a Mining Manager to join our clients growing team. This is a permanent opportunity based at our client’s mining operation in the Mt Isa region on an 8/6 FIFO roster.
As the Mining Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our clients mining team. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring safe operation of the open pit, daily management of the mining contractors, ensure delivery of the mine plan against the long-term schedule and budget, managing and mentoring technical services and mining teams, contributing to project-related tasks and ultimately support the company’s transition from contractor mining to owner operator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long-term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, to achieve the budget.
- Drive the critical transition from contract mining to owner operated operations.
- Liaise and collaborate with department managers to optimize mining activity.
- Communicate effectively with peers and Management regarding operational and technical matters.
- Consistently lead, cultivate and adhere to safety and environmental systems, policies and proceduresdemonstrating commitment to safety, culture and performance.
- Conduct, lead and participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, hazard identification, inspections, reviews, and audits.
- Play an active role in the mine planning process and ensure mine plan is accurate, updated and current.
- Manage costs to budget, forecasting, and rectifying variances.
- Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
- Guide and mentor operations team and build positive working relationships through teamwork and mutual respect.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or a related field, or relevant work experience; and relevant QLD supervisory qualification.
- 10+ years operational mining and management experience.
- Familiarity and experience of the Australian mining industry and associated mining regulations.
- Strong analytical skills, with a focus on Continuous Improvement.
- S1, S2, S3 qualification.
- Strong Leadership and sound management skills.
- Financial management and budgeting skills.
- Exposure to strategic business planning processes.
- SSE notice 20+ (desirable)
