Our client owns and operates an extensive diversified Mixed Farming enterprise on the southwest slopes of NSW. Spread over more than 15,000 acres, they are looking for someone with a broad range of ag skills to join their crew. They currently have 4,000 acres of dryland cultivation, with the balance of the country being back-ground grazing for their small custom feedlot operation. Our client has the philosophy that no one gets pigeonholed into a fixed role as variety is the spice of life, so they regularly rotate duties. Therefore, everyone gets to drive the header, chaser bin and spray-rig, muster cattle, induct into the feedlot or deliver a load of hay.
Due to the diversified nature of the role, our client has asked us to find someone who can think and work for themselves while still being a strong member of the extended team, someone who can take the inititive while at the same time knowing when to reach out for direction and clarification.
Your duties & responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Farming – all aspects of crop production from pre-planting to post-harvest
- Machinery Operation – Operation of machinery equivalent to John Deere 9420 & 7R210 tractors, JTA sprayrigs & 40m air-seeders.
- Cattle – Mustering on 2 wheel-bikes, processing through back-ground to feedlot, cattle husbandry and animal health duties, feeding out
- Truck Driving – Short trips between farms carting grain, hay or gravel. No overnight trips.
- Routine Repairs and Maintenance of all farm plant & equipment as well as infrastructure to your skill level
- Operation of all farming equipment as per manufacturer specifications
- Communicate with the farm owner & other members of the team to work effectively across multiple locations in various capacities
- Teaching and mentoring younger and less experienced staff

- MC licence (or the willingness to get one) – ESSENTIAL
- Mechanical &/or fabrication qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.
- High level of mechanical & fabrication skills – highly desirable
- Minimum of 3 years of broad-acre cropping experience & cattle husbandry experience
- Strong communication, leadership & teamwork skills
- Willingness to teach and mentor less experienced staff
- Availability during busy planting and harvest seasons
