About the role:
We are seeking a Mooring Systems Technician (RAR Specialist) to join their dynamic Operations team. This full-time role is essential for maintaining and servicing their proprietary "RAR Plus" units, a cornerstone technology that enables quick release mechanisms for moored offshore vessels, platforms, and rigs, enhancing safety and operational efficiency across our projects.

The RAR Plus builds upon 40 years of acoustic release technology, offering unparalleled reliability and safety. With over 1000 successful deployments, it has become the industry's preferred choice for mooring release, significantly reducing operational costs and environmental impact for their clients.

Location:
This position is based in Australia, with options for Karratha-based employment (preferred) or a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) arrangement (3 weeks on, 3 weeks off).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed servicing, inspection, and maintenance of RAR Plus units and associated hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Manage inventory of consumables and tools essential for the maintenance of RAR Plus systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and report on the condition of RAR Plus units, ensuring their operational integrity.
  • Assist in the certification renewal processes for RAR Plus units in accordance with DNV-GL and ABS standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance across a range of equipment types, including mechanical, hydraulic, and computer-based systems.
  • Participate in the assembly and disassembly of RAR units, applying technical knowledge and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Support the Base Manager with yard activities, including equipment mobilization/demobilization and ensuring compliance with inspection and certification requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with a strong understanding of schematic wiring diagrams and assembly drawings.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical and hydraulic systems, with some knowledge in electronics.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, including diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and systems.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures for a variety of equipment types.
  • Skilled in the disassembly and reassembly of hydraulic equipment, ensuring proper handling of replacement parts.
  • Demonstrated safe handling and operation of power tools.
  • Competent in reading and implementing technical manuals for equipment repair.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic computer literacy to perform job-related tasks.
  • Certification in forklift operations; rigging experience is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with offshore safety guidelines, DNV-GL, and ABS certification processes.
  • Self-motivated with robust organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Willingness to travel and work in offshore environments.
  • At least 2 years of experience in offshore mooring operations or related fields is preferred.

Training and Reporting:
The Mooring Systems Technician (RAR Specialist) will report directly to the Base Manager. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, ensuring all team members are fully equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in their roles.
