Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team. As a Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing petrol engines and mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles. You will work on components such as transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes.
Key Responsibilities:
Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and related parts is a key aspect of the role. This involves utilizing strong diagnostic skills to identify issues accurately. Once faults are identified, the mechanic will dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components for thorough inspection. They will then proceed to repair and replace worn or defective parts, referring to service manuals as needed for guidance.
Performing scheduled maintenance services is crucial to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with regulations. This includes tasks such as oil changes and engine tune-ups. After completing repairs and maintenance, the mechanic will reassemble engines and parts, ensuring proper performance and functionality. They will test and adjust mechanical parts as necessary, utilizing computer-assisted diagnostics where applicable.
Additionally, part of the mechanic's responsibilities involves inspecting vehicles and issuing roadworthiness certificates. They may also outline any necessary work required to achieve roadworthiness. Moreover, the mechanic must be prepared to respond to vehicle breakdown service calls promptly.
Qualifications:
- AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) in Motor Mechanics. Alternatively, a NZ Register Level 4 qualification is acceptable.
