About the Position
We are seeking a qualified Wood Machinist who is looking for a new challenge to progress their career. You will report into our production supervisor and will be responsible for ensuring our planers, Finger joiners and associated processing equipment are set and maintained to achieve a high-quality standard of product and process to support our business operations.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position working in a supportive team who are willing to train an individual if required. This position will work Tuesday to Fridays 5:00am – 3:15pm. Overtime is available as required as part of the role based on production needs.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Using a range of equipment to cut, shape and mould wood into industry set forms.
- Consulting plans and drawings to meet production specifications.
- Selection and fitting of blades, cutter heads and guides to machine timber.
- Operate and adjust machinery to shape and mould wood.
- Grinding, honing and sharpening of various machinery parts.
- Cleaning and maintaining the machinery, tools and workspace.
- Maintaining the machinery including planer, dockers, moulders.
- Preventive maintenance tasks planned through MEX maintenance system.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Have completed or currently be undertaking a Trade Qualification Certificate III in Wood Machining.
- Previous experience in the timber industry is highly advantageous.
- A background knowledge of Moulders, End Matchers, Dockers and Finger Joiners is favourable.
- A basic knowledge of computer programmes and technology relating to wood machining.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work in a team.
- Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
