About the Position
This role works alongside volunteers from the Historical Society of Cockburn to deliver museum services on behalf of the City of Cockburn.
Sitting within the Library and Cultural Services Business Unit, this part-time role assists with the operational running of the museum at the Azelia Ley Homestead, to ensure a well-run, well managed facility that values the heritage of our district. Among other responsibilities this hands-on role manages school bookings, collection labelling and supports the delivery of events including Heritage Month.
About You
We are excited to meet our new Museum Officer who has:
- Previous experience in working in a museum, library or records management environment
- Experience in working with volunteers and understanding of working with volunteer principles and processes
- Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of online and repository resources available for heritage research
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a broad cross section of people and groups
- Awareness of Australian Museum and Galleries National Standards, Code of Ethics as well as privacy and copyright legislation as it relates to this position.
Salary: $78,894 – $84,150 (pro rata) per annum (depending on qualifications and experience). Please note this role is part-time working approx. 25.5 hours per week.
