About the Role
As a National Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to optimise our distribution network and ensure efficient and cost-effective operations. You will oversee operations and lead a team of distribution professionals across multiple warehouses and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, freight providers and freight integrators to meet customer demands and drive business growth. You will be responsible for managing inventory levels across multiple sites, negotiate supplier and vendor contracts, providing high-level professional leadership and guidance, and analysing and reporting on departmental KPIs.
Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee the management of all aspects of warehouse operations and ensuring smooth process and procedures while adhering to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Overall responsible for the product transfers between sites and to customers, ensuring meticulous planning, coordination, and execution to guarantee that products are transferred efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, optimise transportation and distribution networks, cost reduction, negotiation of contracts, and revenue enhancement to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.
- Strategic planning and reporting focusing on optimisation efficiency, cost reductions, order accuracy, customer satisfaction, and compliance.
- Ensure all WHSE requirements are being met for the handling, storage, and transportation of dangerous goods in compliance with relevant WHSE regulations and standards.
Leadership
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and integrity. Encourage open communication, collaboration and innovation.
- Coach and mentor team, providing professional development opportunities, cross skilling and succession planning.
- Establish clear performance expectations of team members and recognize and address performance issues promptly and effectively.

Qualifications & experience
- Proven experience 5+ years in distribution management, preferably in a multi-site environment within the chemical or dangerous goods industry.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field; master's degree preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and drive results.
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to translate vision into action and achieve measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and related software applications.
- Commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement, with a focus on creating a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Willingness to travel to other warehouse site locations within Australia (as needed).
