This position has become available as Jack has taken on a new opportunity in the business. Originally working in Perth, Jack saw the Operations Manager – Service Delivery in Kalgoorlie as an exciting opportunity to move into Operations.
He was enthusiastic of the window of opportunities this role could offer him in the regions.
Big decisions had to be made such as moving his wife and kids to the regions. A lot to think about but Jack found this to be a terrific decision. 18 months later, and Jack is promoted to Service Delivery Manager.
The highlight of Jack’s time as Operations Manager has been coming into a new team and making a positive difference in terms of strengthening the culture.
He also notes that learning aspects of the business on how we perform essential services and being involved with the community to make positive changes has been inspiring and rewarding.
The advice Jack offers you is don’t be afraid if you don’t have the operational experience. If you have relevant leadership experience, a genuine interest in how infrastructure assets work, and you are capable of learning quickly, then consider this as your next career move!
How would you use your skills?
You will have oversight for all our water, and wastewater operations throughout the Goldfields District, including the operation and maintenance of complex water treatment plants in the Northern Goldfields, and need your leadership skills to run the District smoothly.
This role can be challenging. You will build strong stakeholder relationships to make sure we meet environmental safety and water quality requirements.
You will demonstrate outstanding leadership capabilities in a dynamic environment while ensuring operational outcomes are achieved.
It is imperative that you understand and believe in the importance of safety, with experience demonstrating safety as the most important element of success.
This won’t be your first rodeo in a leadership role. We are looking for someone with substantial experience and the right leadership capabilities who can take the reigns with the right attitude and philosophy. You will have the aptitude to influence your team leaders across the Goldfields district.
In the first few months of stepping into the role, you will build positive trusting relationships with the team. Be empowered by your team when you learn the ins and outs of our assets and promote optimism that you will move the business in the right direction.
After a year or two, you will be a regional leader in the delivery of our accountabilities and focus on continuous improvement to have an engaged workforce.

The fundamentals of the role:
Providing strong leadership that engages, motivates, and inspires the Service Delivery team to deliver high performance in an achievement driven culture.
Providing leadership to the district Service Delivery Team by ensuring all work is undertaken with safety as the priority in the provision of a work environment where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.
Provision and monitoring of water related services to all Water Corporation customers within the district in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational plans.
Develop strategies, policies, processes, and instructions to optimise the effectiveness of the district business operations.
What you’ll need to apply:
You will be doing occasional driving around the District, so a WA C-class driver’s licence will be essential. Travel may occur once a month.
You will need Leadership and operational line management experience of a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge of operations and maintenance practices.
Fit for work.
Capability to manage, develop and deploy people to enhance business capability.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills that provide the ability to engage successfully across all levels of the business are essential.
