The Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) is the peak representative body of Civil Engineering Contractors in Australia providing high level industry advocacy services at the Federal level with the support of its Board and membership base located in each State and Territory. The CCF is also a registered organisation of employers under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
CCF is looking to take its advocacy efforts to the next level and is now seeking experienced policy management and support to provide professional and proactive support to the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer and the organization in the pursuit of the Federation’s objectives.
About the role/s
These National Policy and Government Relations roles will assist the Chief Executive Officer in the development of CCF’s policy, advocacy & communication efforts, consistent with our Business Plan.
We will be looking at potentially splitting this role between a senior candidate with five to ten years National Policy management experience and a graduate at least one to two years working experience beyond a relevant degree.
The role/s will also promote and extend our formal policy positions and advocacy efforts to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across industry, government and community sectors via our various communication tools. This is a hands-on role.
Key Responsibilities
- Researching and analysing a broad range of issues across economic and political areas that affect the civil construction industry and maintain current knowledge of these issues.
- Liaise with key Industry stakeholders, seeking out opportunity to attend industry specific forums and arrange face to face meetings with Industry representatives.
- Gather information from members, CCF committees, industry stakeholders and Training Services through surveys, networking, meetings etc and collaborating with the team at CCF team.
- Development and creation of written reports, policy and position statements, backgrounds papers, briefing papers and government submissions that effectively promote the views of CCF members and industry.
- Represent CCF national as required at conferences, internal and external meetings, industry events and workshops. Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry stakeholders and funding organisations.
- Liaise with government departments in order, to organise meetings with key government figures and other industry relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the creation of policy and position statements, briefing papers and reports for the CEO and the CCF board.
- Support of board meetings and governance.
- Communications with Federal Ministerial and Departmental consultation with the CEO.
- Experience in engagement with media is a not essential but an ability to work in this area is welcomed
Other duties within the incumbent’s competence, skill and training as requested To be successful you will require the following:
- High level research and analysis skills.
- Effective written communication including excellent grammar and the ability to utilise different writing styles for a variety of mediums.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, industry, and other stakeholders.
- Highly developed and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- A high degree of self-motivation, with the capacity to work with minimal supervision in a small team environment.
- The ability to read and interpret articles on a range of industry specific issues.
- Proven ability to research, write, edit and proofread print and electronic media.
This position is based in our Canberra office and will attract a remuneration package commensurate with your experience and include on site under cover parking with the flexibility for part time work.
