The role:

The Network Architect is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining a comprehensive network infrastructure that supports voice, data, video, wireless, and radio communication services across the organization. This includes the development of LANs, WANs, Cloud architectures, IP Telephony systems, and integrated radio systems with a forward-looking approach towards Edge computing and IoT, especially in medical devices.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise in Network Architecture, a deep understanding of radio communication technologies, and the ability to innovate in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Reporting to the Manager of Digital Service Operations, this role is based in in Belmont on a permanent full-time basis.

Some of the responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Ensure the stability and integrity of voice, data, video, wireless, and radio network services
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problem areas, and ensure compliance with security protocols and standards
• Define projects for the integration of new VoIP products, radio communication systems, and IoT devices, ensuring they meet organizational requirements and standards
• Establish a roadmap that will identify the current gaps, and align remediation steps to satisfy the cyber security initiatives, and the Critical Infrastructure Act as it applies to Emergency Services
• Design and implement strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets both current and future needs, including IoT and Edge computing advancements
• Integrate IP Telephony and Radio communication systems with enterprise network infrastructures
• Conduct research on emerging technologies, recommending technologies that increase cost-effectiveness, network flexibility, and ensure seamless integration of medical devices and emergency services communication systems
• Plan, acquire, and coordinate through the Demand management teams for the installation of network devices, IP Telephony, and Radio systems across the organization
• Participate on the ARB (Architecture Review Board) and consultant on all PMO activities that require an integrated communication service

Skills and Attributes required:

• 15+ years of progressive experience in network design and architecture, demonstrating a deep understanding and hands-on expertise in developing, deploying, and managing complex network infrastructures, including VoIP, IP Telephony, and wireless communication systems
• Proven track record in leading the integration of emerging technologies, such as IoT and Edge computing, into existing networks to enhance operational efficiency, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Extensive experience in conducting system audits, performance optimizations, and implementing security measures in accordance with best practices, to ensure the stability and integrity of network services across various platforms and environments
• Deep understanding of Network Architecture and system design, with the ability to conduct system audits, performance optimizations, and ensure compliance with industry standards
• Excellent problem-solving skills, characterized by a methodical approach to diagnosing issues and devising efficient solutions, coupled with the ability to innovate within the constraints of existing software capabilities and network technologies
• Strong project management skills, demonstrated through successful leadership and execution of digital innovation initiatives, from conception through to delivery, leveraging methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall to ensure projects meet business objectives, deadlines, and budgets
• Advanced technical proficiency in key areas, including but not limited to, VoIP, IP Telephony, IoT integrations, wireless technologies, and cybersecurity measures, equipping the individual to design, implement, and manage complex network solutions that support organizational goals

Experience required:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, providing a strong theoretical foundation in computing principles, Network Architecture, and system design. Alternatively, 15+ years of relevant experience in similar roles will also be considered, emphasizing practical, hands-on expertise in Network Architecture and system management
• Professional Certifications in Networking and Security, such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), affirming an in-depth understanding of network infrastructure, security protocols, and best practices
• Certifications in Project Management and Agile Methodologies, including Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM), showcasing the ability to lead and manage complex projects with efficiency and adaptability
• Specialized Training in Emerging Technologies, such as certifications or courses in IoT (Internet of Things), cloud computing platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert), and advanced wireless technologies, ensuring readiness to innovate and integrate the latest technologies into existing network environments
