The Network Design Engineer plays a vital role within the core operations of Zarafa Group. They are tasked with the planning, design, and optimization of fiber optic networks for telecommunications projects. This position demands an in-depth understanding of end-to-end fiber optic technology, network infrastructure, and geographical considerations, all while adhering to the principles of complex fiber Network Design. The Engineer is responsible for enhancing design and quality/support processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, innovation, cost reduction, and service enhancement.
They oversee the implementation of these improvements, ensuring proper adoption throughout the organization and implementing subsequent changes to maximize their impact. Additionally, they provide technical support, analysis, and training across various operational competencies, including Survey, Design, Construction, Completions, and Commercial. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, both onshore and offshore.
The Network Design Engineer ensures the cost-effective design and completion of fiber networks to meet the connectivity and scalability needs of Zarafa Group and its clients.
This role can be completed in office or remote with the correct skillset
Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Holds a Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
- Experience of at least 5 years in designing telecommunications broadband networks
- Expertise in fixed and blown fiber Network Design, as well as understanding outside plant design factors that impact costs during network deployments.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience in PNI/GIS Platforms (e.g., Smallworld, Esri).
- Profound understanding of the design and architecture processes of Australian infrastructure providers such as NBNCo, Telstra, Optus, and TPG.
- Advanced familiarity with modern FTTx topologies and design, encompassing mixed networks involving GPON, G.FAST, VDSL, HFC, and DOCSIS.
- Demonstrated experience in a comparable role.
- Innovative approach to devising technical solutions, crafting both high-level and detailed design documentation.
- Familiarity with surveying and field construction processes.
