The Role
Well suited to an existing Design Coordinator, Architect, Engineer or related/similar professional in the commercial building sector of the built environment. Overseeing and supporting the design function across tender stage of ECI and D&C contracts, the Design Coordinator will oversee:
- Doc Control and management
- Data collation and stakeholder engagement
- Preparation for tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings and identifying design risk
- Oversight of permitting & tracking of permit progress
- Manage the design works, including liaison with Architects, planners and consultancies to ensure that the design deliverables are achieved
- Act as the interface between external design stakeholders and internal teams
- Provide guidance and advice on buildability and design issues /when they crop up

This national builder delivers over $1 Billion of projects across Australia, annually, and deliver projects here in Melbourne from $50M through to $100M+.
They have a range of project experiences and you could work on any number of types of build from high-rise apartments, commercial buildings and student accommodation, through to commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, or sports/aquatic centres.
Highly regarded as an employer of choice, and a culture of high performance, they are now looking to grow a project team and within that, a highly capable Design Coordinator.
Are you suitable?
This position is ideal for a current Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager, or someone working within Architecture or Engineering who is aiming to step into a role within a Head Contractor. The role would be well suited a Project Architect seeking greater involvement in project delivery within a builder's context. The successful candidate is likely to possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Experiences overseeing the design and contract administration of commercial building projects
- Ideally suited to someone who has worked within Melbourne's commercial building project sector
- At least 3 years of experience in the Architectural or related Design field, or already working in a Design role within a Head Contractor
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable engaging with clients, consultants, and working on-site.
- Proficient knowledge of Australian Building Standards.
- Possession of a degree in design or construction management.
