Electrical Network Design Engineer/Officer

ELECTRO Technical Consultants is a family-owned business providing design and engineering consultancy services for the electricity supply industry since 1993.   We undertake planning and design of substations, overhead powerlines, underground powerlines and streetlighting.

The Role

ELECTRO currently has opportunities for Electrical Network Design Engineer/Officers.  In this role you will prepare designs and documentation for the extension to, or modification of electricity networks, including subdivisions and streetlighting. 

Providing a professional service you will have strong interpersonal skills and be effective at building and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of clients and stakeholders as well as the Electro team. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

Undertake field investigations to a consistently comprehensive and highly accurate standard 

• Design preparation in a timely, efficient manner and accurate standard, utilising AutoCad and engineering design software
• Consistent compliance with established quality systems and processes

The Electrical Network Design Engineer/Officer needs to be proficient in 2D drafting, or have the ability to quickly become proficient. 

The Person 

We are seeking a results driven professional with a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.  You will need to be skilled at working with a range of project engineer/technical officers in a collaborative manner to meet project deadlines, budget and quality requirements. 

Ideally you would have a background within a power utilities environment, however this is not essential.  The desired level of qualifications, skills and experience required are:

• Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or substantial progression towards completion
• Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT
• Familiarity with powerline design applications such as poles and wires or similar
• Understanding of electrical power distribution systems 
• Advanced written and spoken communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to self-manage your time and a portfolio of assignments.
