The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority responsible to the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water.
GAWB’s purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council.
GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Network Operations Field Officer to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the operations and maintenance of GAWB’s Network Delivery assets, ensuring we meet customer and regulatory requirements. You will be involved in the implementation of GAWB’s Dam Safety inspection regimes and monitoring programs and will support asset planning, maintenance, and management processes to maintain high reliability in water delivery.
In addition, key accountabilities of this role include:
- Asset Management and understanding GAWB’s maintenance and capital work programs
- GAWB’s compliance to relevant legislation for the operation of Awoonga Dam and Offline Storage.
- Routine monitoring programs as they relate to GAWB’s dam infrastructure.
- Management of risk through GAWB’s suite of emergency management plans including the Emergency Action Plan, and the discharge of any such actions listed in these plans.

Essential Qualifications / Licenses
- Current valid “C” class driver's license
Desirable Qualifications
- Accreditation in Dam Safety Surveillance
- Cert III Water Industry Operations or willingness to work towards it
- Trade Qualification such as Plumbing or Mechanical Fitting
Experience in:
- Dam Safety, Asset Management or Water Industry
- Management of contractors, procedures and documentation
- Use and application of water supply operation and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques and equipment
- Sound Knowledge of Computer applications of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
