AddressNetwork Security Engineer
About the role
The Security Engineer is responsible for the ongoing day to day security operational activities across a wide range of technologies. Working within a security team, the role includes the implementation of security requests and involvement in new network technologies, installations as well as incident and problem management.
Responsibilities
- Provide Incident response and resolution for security related tickets that includes, but not limited to; firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention, virtual private networks, cloud hosted systems and authentication services within the contracted SLA time.
- Perform periodic security health checks and ensure integrity of services including patch management.
- Incorporate relevant security reporting information and data to produce monthly reports per agreed schedules.
- Create and maintain work instructions for security services and operational tasks.
- Provide technical advice and assistance and support to customers and staff in the resolution of system and application type faults as required.
- Proactive involvement in security service improvements and implementation of new technologies
- Great communication skills with the ability to respond to stressful situations calmly and confidently.
Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a similar security, or Network Security role.
- 3+ years of network experience.
- Very good knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing and switching), and Network Security systems.
- Good analytical & problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, as well as the ability to work well in a dynamic environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate security and risk-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications Desirable:
- Bachelor Degree of IT (Security preferred).
- Security vendor certification: Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint or Palo Alto.
