Southern Shorthaul Railroad is a privately-owned rail operator, providing services throughout New South Wales and Victoria. Our focus on customer service has helped forge our reputation for safety, quality and reliability.
Due to continuous growth, we are now currently looking to recruit an experienced Welder/Fitter to complete rolling stock maintenance tasks and repairs based out of our Newport Workshops.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Fabrication, welding and installation of new parts.
- Testing and commission of completed projects.
Full training will be provided to adapt your current skills to the rail industry.
The successful applicant must demonstrate the following requirements:
Essential Items
- Trade certificate (or skills to trade level)
- Rail industry experience highly regarded
- Experience in heavy equipment is preferred
- Our workshop is classified as a rail site and as such there is zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol. All employees are required to be drug and alcohol free at all times and random testing is conducted
- Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Hold a current Forklift Licence and be an experienced user
- Hold a current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to pass relevant Rail Medical if required
