About the Role
The Sydney newsroom is seeking an experienced television News Producer to join the team responsible for the NSW 7pm news bulletin as well as video on demand. You’ll work with Sydney reporters and other TV producers to ensure our story-telling is of the highest broadcast standard and output the 7pm bulletin as required.
- Generate stories that are relevant to a broad section of Australians and reflect the cultural, geographic and socio-economic diversity of the country.
- Support the Supervising Producer and newsroom leadership team to produce stories for State and Network News that provide context, depth and understanding for audiences.
- Line up and put to air the flagship 7pm news bulletin under the direction of the Supervising Producer, also supervise the production team when required.
- Actively contribute to the development of a collaborative working relationship with Regional & Local teams to deliver strong local content.
- Support the NSW newsroom leadership team to implement content strategies and initiatives consistent with overall ABC and ABC News direction.
About You
You're an experienced journalist with proven experience in writing for broadcast and sourcing the best pictures to tell a news story. You will have sound, independent editorial judgement and experience working in a daily and deadline-driven news environment. Ideally, you will have experience in the line-up and output of TV news. You'll also have a strong understanding of local, national and international news issues and events.
You will also have:
- Comprehensive experience producing and commissioning distinctive video content for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Proven experience managing remote live inserts into news bulletins.
- Proven and effective teamwork, communication, interpersonal and time management skills to operate effectively in a busy newsroom environment. Demonstrated ability to guide others in a fast-paced newsroom with continuous deadlines.
- Experience and an advanced understanding in using audience data for insights and the latest trends in audience behaviour to drive editorial decision making.
- A demonstrated and ongoing interest and passion in finding and telling stories that reflect Australia’s diversity.
