We are seeking an experienced Print Producer to be responsible for editing and coordinating the production of the weekly print editions of Queensland Country Life and North Queensland Register and some associated special publications.
As a senior role in the newsroom, the successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, an excellent grasp of our print readership and a strong commitment to our print audience. An understanding of agriculture and regional Queensland and/or experience in the agriculture industry would be seen as highly valuable, but not essential. This role can be based anywhere in Queensland, and also the option to work from home.
This role comes with a highly-competitive salary package. Flexible work arrangements such as working a five-day week over four days can also be considered for this role.
The role's key responsibilities:
- Liaise with the Queensland CountryLife/North Queensland Register editor to assign, edit and copyfit QCL and NQR's weekly print pages, as well as other associated special publications
- Ensure all print copy is error free and prepare pages for the Editorial Production Assistant to send to press
- Consistently meet print deadlines and demonstrate excellent organisational skills
- Attend daily news meetings to ensure a strong grasp of the content available for print
- Write and edit your own content in consultation with the editor
- Liaise with external stakeholders, such as freelance journalists and columnists, to ensure deadlines are met and content is appropriate for our audience
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering team culture around editorial strategy, including leading/participating in coaching/training as required
- Meet and collaborate regularly with sales and other colleagues, plus external stakeholders (eg advertisers, community leaders, etc)
The ideal candidate:
- An industry professional with at least three years' experience in journalism, editing or print production
- Someone with a high attention to detail with excellent editing and sub-editing skills
- Someone with good time management skills who is able to meet important deadlines Someone who is self-motivated, organised and has the ability to work with all levels of staff
- Someone capable of working independently and at a very-high standard
