UTS is a contributing organisation to the Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures. Administered by the University of Queensland the Centre has multiple national and international partners who will be engaged in conducting research focused on Indigenous survivance and futures, including thematic areas of Law and Justice, Health and Wellbeing, and Education and Economies.The Node Administrator will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the NSW/ACT Node ensuring it effectively meets its research and engagement objectives. The Node Administrator will work collaboratively with the Community Engagement and Events Officer (based at the lead institution, University of Queensland), liaise with local communities and partner organisations and provide administrative assistance to project participants at UTS and ANU. The position will be in Jumbunna Research, Jumbunna Institute of Indigenous Education and Research, and report directly to the NSW/ACT Node Leader, Associate Professor Paul Gray.Applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged.About the InstituteJumbunna Research is a unique First Nations research institute in Australia comprising nine research hubs: Child Protection Advocacy; Cultural Resilience; First Nations Land Justice, Indigenous Archives and Data Stewardship; Indigenous Law and Justice; Indigenous Nations and Collaborative Futures; Indigenous People and Work; Indigenous Policy and Legal Strategies. The Indigenous-led research team operates throughout Australia with staff working in communities in Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, and New South Wales engaging with collaborators internationally and in all States and Territories. The vision is to promote, support, and embody the exercise and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sovereignty and Self-Determination.About the roleThe Node Administrator will play a key role the operation of the NSW/ACT node through the provision of high-level administrative and organisational support to the Node Leader, Chief Investigators and researchers. This will include:- Managing incoming and outgoing communication on behalf of the project
- Providing administrative support to Chief Investigators and research staff, supporting them to deliver against the research plans
- Providing executive support for staff meetings, committees, and working parties including scheduling, diary management, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and undertaking follow up work as required
- Undertaking record keeping for the project and meeting reporting requirements
- Financial management of the project.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues.
- Substantial relevant administrative experience within the tertiary sector or comparative large-scale organisation.
- Excellent administrative, financial, organisational and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in project management.
- Demonstrated high-level ability to work both independently and as part of a team and to take initiative.
