The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is a leading global think tank established in 2010 and headquartered in Sydney, Australia. With offices in Sydney, New York, Brussels, Mexico City, and Nairobi, we specialize in the intersection of business, peace, and economics. Collaborating with prominent global entities such as the UN, OECD, Commonwealth Secretariat, World Vision, Rotary International, and governments, we've significantly expanded our influence in the past year. Our operations are sustained through grants, consulting, training, and data sales, boasting a stable financial foundation and ample reserves. With a broad media presence and a commitment to producing impactful research reports like the Global Peace Index and Global Terrorism Index, we're dedicated to fostering peace and societal development worldwide.

As a Non-Executive Director at IEP, you’ll join a board comprising 6 to 10 members from diverse backgrounds, collectively providing governance oversight. Your primary responsibilities will include governance oversight, approval of the annual operational plan, and contributing to the selection of the CEO. Board meetings occur approximately four times per year, and this role is voluntary, ensuring a manageable workload.

 It’s a pro bono position as the Institute is a not-for-profit organisation. The role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our global mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide governance oversight and strategic direction for IEP.
• Approve the annual operational plan and contribute to CEO selection.
• Participate actively in board meetings and relevant discussions.
• Help develop strategic relationships.

Ideal Candidate:

• Senior management experience with an international focus, preferably in areas such as international affairs, multilateral systems, foreign affairs, global NGOs, public policy, military, or business.
• Genuine interest in international relations, societal development, and peace.
• Previous board experience and a well-rounded career are valued.
• Expertise in international affairs, marketing, fundraising, senior management, governance, strategic partnerships, and communication.
• Proactive, inquisitive, and quick to learn, with a commitment to contributing to society.
• Exceptional written communication skills.
