About You:

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Nurse Consultant - Medical Acute Unit within the Division of Medicine.

The Medical Acute Unit is a new ward to be opened as of early September 2024 and we are looking for a Nurse Consultant who is eager to work with a mix of senior, junior and novice staff to provide the best care to our patients. You will be instrumental in preparing the unit for opening and work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and other member of the Division of Medicine team. 

As a Nurse Consultant you will be responsible for supporting a culture of learning within our service, ensuring our nursing and multidisciplinary teams are able to deliver the highest standard of care in line with state wide and national standards. As an experienced nurse, it is expected that you will provide clinical leadership at the point of care through sound clinical judgement and decision making on matters such as clinical assessment, and the provision of care and treatment. The Nurse Consultant position is considered to be an expert and knowledgeable resource in their specialty. In this role you will also be expected to have a key role in change management, and have a good, if not expert, understanding of quality improvement methodology, and how this is applied to practice as a service through clinical governance.  

In this role you will accept accountability for your nursing practice, the outcomes of nursing practices for the specific patient/client group, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
