About the Role
The Nurse Manager role provides coordination and guidance in relation to nursing management practises by enabling and supporting operational and strategic organisational/divisional goals; working in collaboration with other Nurse Managers supporting Disaster and Emergency Management in overall efficient and effective management, benchmarking, maintaining standards and optimising patient/program outcomes.
The purpose of the Nurse Manager, Disaster and Emergency Management is to:
- Lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of a health service wide clinical Disaster and Emergency Management program.
- Work with all Metro South clinical areas to undertake appropriate training and exercising, including annual training needs analysis, in accordance with relevant legislation, international standards and associated MSH policies, frameworks and plans relating to disaster management, emergency response and mass casualty management.
- Work with other clinical disaster practitioners in other health services and partner agencies to align and promote training and exercises, identifying lessons to further inform planning, training and exercises.
- lead the clinical aspects of Metro South's business continuity program, ensuring that clinical services have appropriate and practised arrangements in place to ensure they can be maintained during any disaster or emergency related disruption.
- Support the management of incidents at a MSH level as clinical liaison, both during work hours, and in the event of out-of-hours incidents.
- Provide quarterly reports and clinical advisory representation to the MSH Disaster and Emergency Management (Tier 3) Committee.
- Represent Metro South Health as a clinical advisor on multi-agency local and district disaster management and disaster recovery groups, exercises and forums as required.
- Support the deployment of MSH clinical staff to assist disaster affected communities as required.
