The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be a crucial member of our healthcare team, endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and practicing with a legislatively protected title. With advanced qualifications and extensive clinical experience, the NP provides expert, patient-centred care while contributing to research, education and clinical leadership. Operating autonomously yet collaboratively, the NP demonstrates accountability in their practice and significantly impacts patient outcomes.
About the Role - Horsham (1.0 EFT)
This is an opportunity to join the expanding Emergency Department (ED) Service in Horsham, with the option to work across multiple campuses if desired. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you'll hold a clinical leadership position, reporting to the Director of Nursing and operating within the full scope of practice under the supervision of the senior medical officer of the Emergency Department.
In Horsham, the ED service collaborates closely with GH and Ambulance Victoria Partners to accept, stabilize, and potentially transfer patients from across the Grampians region based on their medical requirements. The NP role is increasingly vital within GH's Emergency Services, fostering a supportive network for collaboration.

GH – Horsham is located on the main highway between Melbourne and Adelaide, approximately 300km west of Melbourne
The hospital offers a varied range of medical and surgical care as well as high dependency and limited intensive care services. The capability of the service is being lifted with the recent amalgamation with Grampians Health Ballarat.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care and Management: Manage clinical care within the Emergency/Urgent Care Department, ensuring coordinated patient flow and optimizing patient experience.
- Collaboration and Performance: Work with the clinical team to achieve departmental KPIs and National Emergency Access Targets.
- Decision Making and Analysis: Analyse situations and make timely decisions to meet patient and departmental needs.
- Workplace Safety and Collaboration: Promote a safe and healthy workplace and collaborate with community healthcare partners.
- Effective Communication: Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders through clear communication.
- Medical Record Management: Ensure accurate documentation of clinical assessments, diagnoses, and management plans.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service reviews to optimize patient care.
Skills & Experience
- Registered Nurse Practitioner with relevant endorsements and AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 5 years of advanced clinical nursing experience in Emergency care.
- Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care and continuous learning.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic clinical environments, particularly in rural and regional settings.
