- Prison Health Services (PHS) supports prisoners in correctional facilities within the West Moreton region to stay well by providing access to quality Health Care across several centres. PHS provides primary care services for approximately 4,800 prisoners, or 44% of the Queensland adult prison population. In 2024, service activity will increase with the commissioning of another 1500-cell correctional facility, currently under construction in the Gatton region, when that facility reaches capacity West Moreton Health will house half of Queensland prisoner population

Access theAbout the roleThe Nurse Practitioner, within credentialed scope of practice provides nursing leadership, clinical governance, case management and complex clinical care and support for patients within the correctional environment. The majority of Health Care provided to patients in the custodial setting is based within a model of Primary Health Care and predominantly relates to the management of chronic disease, infectious disease, co-morbidity (Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Service) and the provision of acute care as required. The role includes the key co-ordination functions of complex evidence-based care delivery across a continuum and education provision for patients and staff.This role may be eligible for the Queensland Health Attraction Incentive.
