About your opportunity
Permanent full-time position available
This is an advanced and extended level of Nursing Practice in the Respiratory Services Unit at The Townsville Hospital. This will include services generally not included in a Registered Nurses' role i.e. prescribing medications, specialist referrals, pathology and medical imaging.
Skills and experience:
- Establish consistent and effective lines of communication across primary, secondary and tertiary care providers utilising multi-modal communication pathways.
- Provide strong leadership to motivate the multidisciplinary team to achieve agreed healthcare goals within designated timeframes; ensure follow-up to capture satisfaction and goal outcomes. Utilise professional networks and innovative approaches to enhance systems integration and reduce fragmentation and barriers.
- Provide clinical management and leadership through role modelling, mentoring and leading positive change; contributing to educational programs that keep healthcare practitioners informed and committed to the importance of coordination and flow in a patient centred care journey.
- Leadership proficiency through the articulation of team engagement principles and personal attributes that influence a positive team culture and achieve active collaboration across multidiscipline services.
Generous remuneration package value up to $178,322 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of $149,259 to $155,831 p.a. (Nurse Grade 8)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- A Nurse Practitioner will be required to complete THHS credentialing at commencement of their role, it is then a requirement to be completed 3 yearly.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
