About The Opportunity
You will be working as part of a Public Health Unit to manage a team of Registered Nurses in the SWSLHD Public Health Unit and supporting your colleagues and other stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high quality care to the people of South Western Sydney.
The team is a multidisciplinary team including Drs, Nurses, Epidemiologist and Data Quality Administrators.
The Public Health Unit, comprises of a communicable diseases team, Immunisation team, Environmental health officers and Administration team which forms a part of the Population Service within SWSLHD and is based in the Liverpool CBD.

What you'll be doing
The primary role of the NUM is to coordinate, manage and support the delivery of Public Health nursing services to people in South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). This includes working with the team to prevent and manage existing and emerging communicable and vaccine preventable diseases. The NUM will lead the provision of safe, quality patient care and manage related clinical issues.
The NUM will provide leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources and manage any consumer comments or complaints. The NUM will demonstrate initiative, creativity and contribute to our vision of innovative models of care, support implementation of the SWSLHD Strategic Plan and Keeping People Healthy: Prevention Plan.
The NUM is part of the PHU Senior Management Team who together provides leadership to build a high performing culture, management and accountability for RNs, and ensure all nursing clinical practice is consistent and in accordance with evidence-based practice of Public Health. There is an expectation that this position may be required to work across communicable diseases and immunisation teams in the PHU.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrated nursing leadership with experience in managing staff and services in a relevant setting.
  • Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of Public Health needs of the population.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the management of a complex health service.
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills in relation to operational flow and clinical management.
  • Maintained up to date knowledge on delivery of evidence based communicable, notifiable diseases management and recent of practice as an Accredited Nurse Immuniser.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
