About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Emergency Department. This position is responsible for providing the overall clinical / Operational management of the Emergency Department and includes the co-ordination of patient services through liaison with all health care disciplines for the provision of services to meet patient needs and the timely flow of patients through the department. Maintaining the delivery of high quality care to patients in the Emergency Department and ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.
In addition to this the OP NUM will be required to coordinate all aspects of the patient journey within the Emergency Department from allocation of patient assessment areas to notification of admission, discharge or transfer to inpatient bed. The role will also involve keeping with the initiatives that evolve from Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) as well as meeting other targets and benchmarks for NSW Health Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) which include Ambulance Transfer of Care (TOC), Nurse Time Seen (NTS) & Triage category benchmarking.
This position will provide leadership & consultancy to nursing & other health care professionals to respond to issues in accordance with the St Vincent’s Hospital escalation plan & in accordance with the Mission & Values of St Vincent’s Health Australia and the Mary Aikenhead Ministries. The successful applicant will be employed upon a seven day rotating roster that will include periods of night duty.

Selection Criteria:
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
- Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
- Recognised post graduate tertiary qualification in a clinical speciality or management (or willingness to undertake same within 12 months) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, computer literacy, workplace health and safety and effective communication / interpersonal skills at departmental level.
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues.
- Ability to deliver, evidenced based, patient centred care within a complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation.
- Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice.
