Nursery Assistant Manager (Landscaping)

Transcape Constructions undertakes high quality landscape and revegetation projects throughout North Queensland.

Our Sister Company "Rocky Springs Nursery" is a wholesale nursery located just South of Townsville. We supply plants for our own projects, and we also provide plants to numerous individuals and businesses who access our comprehensive catalogue. 

We have completed numerous iconic Landscape projects valued from $100k to $10M for a range of government and private sector clients.

You will be someone who has a positive and enthusiastic outlook and enjoys a multi-skilled role, balancing office/administration tasks with outside/field tasks set amongst a lush mountainous backdrop. You will play an integral role within a dynamic small to medium sized company, and you will have opportunity to grow into your role and be exposed to all aspects of the Landscaping Industry.

The Role

Assist the Nursery Manager with a variety of tasks including:

• General operational oversight (site safety, staffing, scheduling)
• Planning, programming, and recording of daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
• Maintaining nursery stock to the highest possible standard (eg nurturing seedlings, watering, fertilising, pruning, pest management).
• Undertake stocktakes and update spreadsheets on a regular basis.
• Managing all technical requirements of the nursery (plant/machinery, irrigation systems).
• Expanding sales and developing new clients
• Point of sale/eftpos and responding to client/supplier queries
• Purchasing of nursery stock and supplies
• Coordinating deliveries and client/customer inspections and provide input on suitability of plants for projects/locations.
• Developing and extending the size of the nursery area
• Guiding the production team in terms of quality and efficiency
• Providing support to nursery labourers and casual staff as required to meet deadlines.
• Contributing to the monthly catalogue by nominating “specials”, availability and providing photos as required.
• Providing regular reports to the Managing Director

Requirements

As the Nursery Assistant Manager for our Wholesale Nursery, you will require the following (or be able to demonstrate suitability gained from past employment) -

• 2 years or more of similar experience
• Horticultural qualifications (or willingness to acquire)
• Valid driver’s license & own transport
• White card  
• Sales/customer service (point of sale, cash/eftpos, receipting)
