Habitat Creations is a family-owned company specialising in large-scale urban landscaping, natural environment remediation and revegetation, and native plant supply via our Wholesale Nursery. Our Nursery division is where the Habitat Creations story began and is still the backbone of our entire operations, Our Wholesale Nursery grows in excess of 1.9 million indigenous aquatic and terrestrial plants per year, supplying the landscaping industry, state and local government, water authorities, catchment management authorities, private landholders and our own Landscaping and Environment projects. Together, we work towards our shared purpose; to leave an environmental legacy for our clients and local communities.
The opportunity
Nursery Hands play an important role in providing assistance to the Wholesale Nursery team, fulfilling a range of general Nursery duties, including pricking out, dividing and tubing up seedlings, moving stock, fertilising, labelling, watering, weeding and other nursery duties. Nursery work is challenging, diverse and rewarding teamwork in the great outdoors! About you
You love working outdoors, where the idea of four walls and a desk couldn't be further away. You enjoy manual work, and when it's knock-off time, knowing that you've spent the day doing something that matters. Sharing challenges and accomplishments with your teammates is what makes you go. You take pride in your work, but you have a bit of fun along the way. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you! Previous experience working in a Native Plant Nursery will be highly regarded but isn't required as training can be provided.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- An enthusiasm for plants and the horticulture industry
- The ability to complete physical work in all weather conditions
- Dexterity / fine motor skills
- The ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team
- A current and valid driver’s license and reliable transport
- A friendly, positive and inclusive mindset
Desirable
- A horticulture qualification is desirable, but not essential
- Experience in a native wholesale nursery is highly preferred, with demonstrated knowledge and skills covering the main duties as described
- First Aid Level II
