The Nurse Unit Manager will provide clinical leadership and management across the newly established hospital whilst working with inpatient consumers with varying degrees of acute psychiatric or mental illness. Our model of care incorporates overnight admissions, day intensive hospital services, a variety of specialised day programs, and community care. Work with us to prepare for our hospital opening in October 2024, within a supportive team of health professionals and become a part of a successful and growing organisation.
Snapshot of your role:
On a day-to-day basis you will lead your team and be responsible for providing high level clinical expertise, resource management, patient flow, governance, and work health safety guidance. You will also be responsible for overseeing the rostering of nursing staff, managing leave requests, yearly performance appraisals of the nursing staff and supporting the CEO/DCS in decision making that will result in the best of care delivery and improve the patient’s journey.
The successful applicant must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Nursing Unit management role in the mental health environment and have demonstrated leadership experience. Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse is essential as is proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, effective communication, conflict resolution and an ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a continuous improvement / risk management program
Our ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse
- Previous experience in Nursing Unit Manager role
- Post graduate qualifications in mental health and/or nursing management
- Expert knowledge of best practice in clinical patient care
- Ability to problem solve and prioritise clinical / hospital needs
- Strong collaborative interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Sound computer skills in hospital systems and Microsoft Office
- Proven conflict resolution
- Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate customer service and quality improvement programs
Desirable criteria:
- Knowledge of private hospital & health fund compliance
- Experience with hospital accreditation
As a pre-requisite for this role, successful candidates will be required to provide an up-to-date National Police Clearance and Blue Card. Proof of up-to-date vaccination records will be required prior to on-boarding.
