About the opportunity
The Network Asset group is increasing the focus on investigating the causes of asset failure so that better understanding of the probability of asset failure can be built up. There are 4 key processes where asset failure is investigated these are Equipment Failure Investigation (EFI) process, the Fire Start Investigation process, Electric Shock investigation process and the Claim Process.
The Operational Asset Management (OAM) Engineer is primarily responsible for asset failure investigation and analysis (both physical investigation as well as data analysis), asset strategy development and decision making resulting from the failure analysis, these activities allow SA Power Networks to continuously improve our risk understand on asset failure vs condition of the asset, ensuring optimum replacement programs can be selected.
The OAM Engineer will:
- Utilising organisational systems to identify asset that has failed and fires that have started as a result of SAPN assets.
- Ensuring all incidents requiring investigation are entered into the asset investigation register.
- Investigating incidents across EFI, Fire Start, Claims and Electric Shocks. This entails working with subject matter experts, field services and technical groups across business.
- Conducting analysis of failure data to identify trends.
- Working with Strategy Engineers to determine new asset strategies required resulting from asset failure investigation and analysis.
- Helping work on the investigation systems to constantly improve them and ensure a whole of business focus is maintained.
- Making recommendation around data - quality, new data points that would add value, recommend stop collecting data where the data does not add value.
- Reporting on asset performance.
About you
- Have a Degree in Engineering
- Experienced with asset failure investigation
- Experienced with analysis of big data
- Knowledge of Electricity Distribution Network and assets
- Knowledge of industry compliance standards
- Current SA Drivers Licence
