Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit on a Permanent full-time basis. The Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit sits within our Mental Health Service Group located in the Townsville University Hospital.
About your opportunity
The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with consumers, carers, and multidisciplinary professionals providing clinical services and a therapeutic environment conducive to their dignity and wellbeing.
The Townsville Hospital campus is home to the state-of-the-art, 36-bed AAMHIU, which was created for people in need of immediate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for Mental Health illnesses. The institution contains a 28-bed Low Dependency Unit (LDU) in the open area and an eight-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. The administrative, nursing, medical, allied health, and operational employees make up the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
The successful candidate will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with ability to consult and liaise with a wide range of stakeholders
- Have a demonstrated ability to apply established standards / principles to the provision of Acute Mental Health care.
- Understands and supports the vision, values and objectives of the Institute of Mental Health Services and understands and supports the organisations vision, values and objectives.
- Confidently presents messages in a clear, concise manner. Focuses on key points and uses appropriate language.
Generous remuneration package value up to $132,730 p.a. comprising:
- Salary range of 76,747 to $116,332 p.a. (HP3)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- For Occupational Therapy the successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the Occupational Therapist Board Australia (AHPRA) is required.
- Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
