Job description

This opportunity is offered on a part time or  full time permanent contract so please specify in your application what your preference of hours and days are.

The purpose of this role is to provide evidence-informed, effective and efficient occupational therapy services to the children and families referred to the Child & Family programs.  The role include planning, assessment, formulation, intervention and discharge planning in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.  (see the position description for further details)


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE 

  • B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy or equivalent and registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated experience in occupational therapy assessment, intervention, case management and discharge planning of children (0 – 12 years) with developmental disorders and disabilities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the main components of performance in paediatric practice i.e. regulation, sensory processing, self-care skills, fine and gross motor skills, and motor planning.
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with both professionals and clients & families . Proficient in computer skills.
  • Understanding or experience working with children and families with complex psychosocial and mental health needs, including children living in out of home care and those who have experienced adversity.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with families of children with disabilities and knowledge of the NDIS principles and pathways
  • Experience using a relationship-based therapeutic approach
  • Experience working with children with significant behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience in research or quality improvement activities.
  • Mental Health Accreditation OR experience in the field of mental health
  • Willingness to complete outreach clinics in rural NSW.
