Occupational Therapist - what's involved in the role?

As our new Occupational Therapist, you will provide OT services to our NDIS customers as well as customers engaged in Short Term Restorative Care, Home Care Packages and other community programs. 

You will enjoy meeting with our Sunshine Coast customers in their own home to assess their needs and monitor, review and verify the quality and effectiveness of services provided on a regular basis. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining accurate customer records with supporting documentation of care plans, progress notes, customer reviews, outcome measures, incidents, and consent.

This is a newly created role to support our growth and delivery of NDIS services and available as a full-time permanent position (Monday to Friday), or if you are seeking more work life balance, we can offer a part time arrangement e.g., school hours across 5 days or 3 or 4 full days a week. There is flexibility with fortnightly hours, and we invite you to outline your preference in your cover letter.

This is a mobile role and administrative tasks can be completed either at home, at a Suncare office or a co-working space, which gives you flexibility and autonomy.

What you will bring to our team:

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA
  • Practical experience or extensive knowledge in providing OT services under the NDIS framework in a Rehabilitation, Community or Aged Care setting
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) 
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • A great attitude, willingness to learn new things, and most importantly the ability and desire to listen to customers and understand their needs, wants and goals
  • First Aid and CPR certificate 
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to use own vehicle for work purposes, ensuring vehicle is appropriately insured
