The position aims to improve Community Resilience via community outreach and the delivery of relevant information sessions, training programs and linkages for community agencies responding to people in distress post disaster.About youThe successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health values:
- Responsible for delivering post disaster mental health recovery services through the application of advanced clinical knowledge, skills, and competency according to contemporary practice and standards of care. This includes engaging with community organisations to identify people who have experienced significant distress, are exhibiting early signs of stress-related disorders, and/or are at risk of developing mental health disorders.
- Responsible for providing consultancy to General Practitioners, non-government organisations, mental health services, consumers, carers, and staff relevant to post disaster mental health recovery, including facilitating access to relevant mental health services.
- Group program delivery for service providers and community members impacted by disaster events (e.g., skills for psychological recovery) to improve emotional resiliency and disaster related psychological preparedness for future events. This includes providing information about psychological recovery at community events and workshops.
- Liaison with key MNMH positions/teams and community services to facilitate a coordinated response for people requiring additional mental health support post disaster.
