The opportunity:
Join our team at Head to Health Ipswich as an Occupational Therapist - Mental Health Clinician. The role of the Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Clinician is to deliver competent, discipline specific and Mental Health evidence-based interventions, aligned with the consumer’s Mental Health needs and goals utilising recovery, strength-based and trauma informed frameworks as practice principles.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Deliver competent and evidence-based occupational therapy services for the Head to Health service in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with clinical supervision and commensurate with level of experience. This involves actively supporting and promoting the health and wellbeing of consumers of the service.
- Deliver competent evidence-based occupational therapy inclusive of individual occupational formulation, screening, assessment and both individual and group therapeutic interventions for consumers.
- Deliver competent level brief intervention therapeutic services for consumers, including the delivery of a variety of evidence-based interventions to address complex and broad ranging presentations. For example, psychoeducation, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution focused Therapy (SFT).
- Ability to advocate for the Mental Health needs of service consumers and their carers and relevant agencies within the Head to Health team.
- Provide client-centred care to people, incorporating family and significant others where appropriate.

About you:
Are you a professional, innovative, and caring clinician who thrives as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and enjoys working with a wide range of external stakeholders involved in providing health, Mental Health, and psychosocial services?
We’re also looking for:
- Tertiary qualifications in occupational therapy from an accredited institution and registration with AHPRA.
- Emerging experience working with people’s Mental Health and well-being, leading to the provision of, inclusive and high-quality therapeutic services, with a solution and changed based focus.
- Skills and experience in the assessment, formulation, and provision of evidence-based treatments of Mental Health disorders.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and developing and implementing risk management plans, including delivery of crisis intervention.
- Strong knowledge of the Mental Health system, government policy and legislation, and professional standards and codes of ethics as they pertain to working with people and their Mental Health.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other professionals in a multi-disciplinary team, as well as consult, liaise and work with a wide range of external stakeholders involved in the provision of health, Mental Health, and psychosocial services to people.
