About Us
Secure Extended Care Unit (Unit 4) is a 50 bed Inpatient Unit based at Dandenong Hospital. SECUs provide medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder with an associated significant disturbance in behaviour that preclude their living in a less restricted environment. SECUs represent the highest level of care on the continuum of mental health services and provide extended clinical treatment, supervision and support for those whose needs cannot be met adequately by other available programs and services.
About the Role
The Grade 2 Occupational Therapist position is a permanent Full time role within the Secure Extended Care Unit. In consultation with the Senior Occupational Therapist, the Service Manager and other team members, the incumbent will be responsible for the provision of an effective Occupational Therapy service to inpatients of the Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU) and Mental Health Program. The position will utilise group and individual programmes, including Occupational Therapy specific assessments and interventions. The position will provide leadership to the Grade 1 OTs on the Unit, and represent Occupational Therapy at a broader programmatic level. Whilst the position is based at SECU, the incumbent will be required to work in any clinical area at any or all campuses of Monash Health as and when required. Such a requirement may be a temporary arrangement, on an ad hoc basis, or a permanent change.
