About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region.

About the Role?

As an Occupational Therapist within our team, you will provide culturally appropriate services as part of a multi- disciplinary team. Our services are provided within a system of care that walks alongside clients in their health journey.

What does it look like to be an IUIH Occupational Therapist?

  • Opportunity to develop both Adult and Paediatric skills by maintaining a diverse caseload across the lifespan. This includes the opportunity to specialise in adult, paediatric or mixed caseloads.
  • Work collaboratively within an interprofessional team of health care professionals including: Speech Pathologists, Physios, EPs, Paed Nurses, GPs, AHWs, Paediatricians, and more. As a collaborative team we work together to provide client-centred care.
  • Work in a variety of settings such as primary health care clinics, kindergartens, and other community settings.
  • Opportunities to contribute to continuing innovative health service development.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Yellow Card – Disability Worker Screening Clearence (Prior to Commencement)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Relevant degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates (Willingness to obtain)
  • Current criminal history check (willingness to obtain)

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities.
