About the role:
Reporting to the SSE. You will:
- Meet Open Cut Examiners responsibilities as outlined in the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 1999 and the Coal Mining Health and Safety Regulation 2017.
- Maintain compliance to and ensure a sound understanding of the legislative and site safety and health system requirements as they apply to the role
- Effectively plan, monitor and coordinate personnel, equipment and resources to achieve EPSA set targets and schedules
- Participate in development and review of risk assessments, PHMP’s, SOP’s and other Standards and Procedures relating to mining activities in or around the mine excavation, as directed
- Follow and ensure compliance with all Risk Management Processes and documentation requirements, reducing unacceptable levels of risk
- Participate in incident investigations and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and company policies and procedures;
- Facilitate the implementation of a process to drive positive safety behaviours across all levels of the organisation

To be successful you will have:
- Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years as an OCE
- Extensive experience and knowledge of mining practices and legislative obligations
- Valid QLD Driver's license.
- Incident investigation skills to identify corrective and preventative actions.
- Demonstrated positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour.
- Effective people management and development experience and skills.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, work planning and scheduling skills
- QLD Open Cut Examiner’s qualification
- Current QLD Mining Supervisor competencies including RIIRIS402 (G2)
- RIIRIS301 Apply Risk Management Processes (formerly QMS1),
- RIIWHS301 Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (formerly QMS2) and
- RIICOM301 Communicate Information (formerly QMS3)
- ICAM Lead Investigator
- Experience working for a medium to large mining operator/contractor.
- Experience in multiple mining facets, (Prestrip, Dragline, Coal Mining, Dozer Push and auxiliary tasks).
- Current S11
- Current Coal Board Medical
