At Football Queensland we are entering an exciting time for the game of football. We are leveraging the massive success that was the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand, while the game in Queensland is embarking on an important journey to reach 50/50 gender parity by 2027. Football in Queensland has recently completed an important reform journey for the game, which will see football taken to the next level.

Football Queensland as the governing body for Football in Queensland, exists to develop and grow the game at all levels by leading and supporting our clubs, volunteers, coaches, referees, and stakeholders to provide exciting and enjoyable experiences for all Queenslanders - anytime, anywhere. Football Queensland also deliver player development pathways and manage the premier football competitions across the state.

Primary Purpose of Role
The Officer – Regional Competitions role will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of competitions through the development of strong working relationships with Football clubs in Football Queensland (FQ) Competitions, regions and relevant stakeholders of the game.
The position will provide support to the broader Football Queensland team, Regions and Clubs and create an environment to maximise the participation and enjoyment of those stakeholders through the implementation of policies, procedures and operational processes.
The role will work with a team of competition administrators, to create an environment that maximises the participation and enjoyment of competitions and program participants through professional customer service and delivery of timely and accurate administrative functions.
The 2023-2026 Football Queensland (FQ) One Football Strategic Plan “Anytime, Anywhere” identifies the following key strategic pillars and focuses that the Officer – Regional Competitions will assist in delivering outcomes for:
- Participant & Clubs
- Support clubs & volunteers as football’s frontline
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers, and improve and communicate our value proposition accordingly
- Unifying Football
- Work with all stakeholders of the game to ensure a consistent One Football approach
- Support with the development and implementation to expand our technology systems to streamline our operations
Role and Responsibilities
The Officer – Regional Competitions will be required to:
- Support in the delivery and administration of all FQ Competitions and programs throughout Regional Queensland
- Deliver ongoing requirements of administrating FQ Competitions, including the scheduling and management of fixtures, match results, and ensuring the integrity of each competition is maintained
- Liaise with clubs and develop strong relationships with Football Queensland stakeholders including FQ Regional Staff and Football Clubs across Queensland
- Develop a strong operational acumen of FQ’s Competition management platforms and technology systems
- Work with the FQ Referees department regarding the delivery of matches and competitions
- Work with and assist/advise other Competition Administrators with maintaining all competitions across QLD as required
- Deliver a high level of customer service to all stakeholders
- Work closely with our affiliated clubs to ensure each competition supports the overall growth and development of the game
- Ensure that each club and team adhere to our regulations that govern each league
- Attend training, workshops, events to further enhance competition administration expertise
Experience and Skills
To be the right fit for this role you will have:
- Must have a blue card (working with children) or be willing to get one
- Dedicated and mature approach to providing exceptional customer service
- Able to initiate new relationships, build rapport quickly and have the knowledge of dealing with professional administrators and importantly, volunteers
- Be aware of the terminologies and relevant policies of managing a football competition
- Excellent presentation and communication skills including phone, face to face, email, video call and direct messaging services
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Suite and computer systems
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under direction to start processes, set priorities and manage key tasks and time but as important is the ability to take initiative and make decisions using critical thinking and awareness
- Support as required, including coordinating calendars, diaries and travel throughout the state as needed
- Enthusiasm and a high-level of self-motivation, both independently and as a part of a team
- Familiarity of QLD geography with preference for understanding Football landscape including clubs, pathways, programs (both talent and participation)
- Self-awareness and ability to comprehend what is required and how to achieve outcomes
- Driver’s License
The following skills and qualifications are desirable:
- Tertiary Qualifications Business, Business Administration or Sports Management
- Experience in working with volunteers and a wide variety of stakeholders
