Manual Handling Coordinator

About the Health, Safety & Wellness department

The Health, Safety and Wellness department is committed to promoting the highest levels of safety and wellbeing support to staff across Austin Health. The department provides services across all three campuses of Austin Health (Austin hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre), as well as to our regional sites. 

About the role

As the Manual Handling Coordinator, you will work alongside another Manual Handling Coordinator. You will work collaboratively with a supportive team who are passionate about providing best practice care for our staff and patients. You’ll enjoy our continuing education and quality improvement strategy, which is developed through leadership forums and committees. 

A regular day will see you: 

  • Coordinate and deliver Manual Handling training across Austin Health 
  • Work closely with the clinical areas providing support and guidance in relation to OHS matters, particularly in Manual Handling 
  • Review and support Manual Handling related incidents and investigations 
  • Provide and complete Manual Handling risk assessments, policies and procedures, and other training documents 

This is a part time opportunity (16 hours per week), working Mondays and either a Thursday or Friday.

About you

You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and enjoys presenting to a variety of working groups. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset. You will further bring with you:

  • A relevant professional qualification and current AHPRA registration in either nursing, physiotherapy or occupation therapy 
  • Previous experience in a similar role and demonstrated specialist knowledge of Manual Handling 
  • A proven ability to effectively deliver training with a high level of presentation skills
