We are offering an outstanding opportunity for someone who is seeking to further enhance their career in the construction industry. We are looking for a construction professional to take responsibility for process development and management of our WHSE system, environmental policies and site compliance.
The Role - | HSE Officer
- Proactively develop, implement and drive company environmental and safety policies, practices, and procedures in compliance with OH&S legislative requirements to promote a safe workplace
- Carry out pre-starts/site establishments, site safety walks & progress inspections in conjunction with the appointed site supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of site based environmental, health and safety plans
- Monitor and manage safety compliance of company assets (e.g. test & tag register, equipment servicing schedules, vehicle servicing & safety schedules, equipment inspection checklists, first aid kits etc…)
- Monitor and manage PPE systems and plans (e.g. Respiratory Protection Plans, PPE checklists and the like)
- Manage and maintain third party compliance subscriptions (e.g. CM3), and licensing / insurance compliance.
- Manage and maintain safety and evacuation plans across both office and work site locations
- Further develop and maintain environmental/waste management policy and ensure sustainability objectives are delivered on site
- Maintain alignment between job management system/WHSE plan while planning for future OH&S activities
- Identify WHSE training opportunities for all Construction Supervisors, Estimators and other business unit staff as required.
- Facilitate workplace inspections and internal audits, while monitoring compliance to the incident reporting and investigation process
- Manage incident register and investigate and report on any occurrences.
- Support the selection and onboarding of suppliers in accordance with our Supplier and OH&S Policies
- Management of supplier compliance
- Management/maintenance of company policies and existing WHSE plan
- Reviewing contracts and implementation of service improvements
Skills and Experience
- Diploma or higher qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Demonstrated knowledge of state OHS legislation and regulations
- Previous experience delivering site audits, safety inspections and Incident investigation & reporting
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of key stakeholders with strong attention to detail
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability in liaising and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proven experience working effectively autonomously as well as within a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload
- Strong computer skills particularly within MS Office and the ability to develop reports, analyse and interpret data
