About the Job:
As we continue to expand, we have an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to join the Wettenhalls team to oversee and optimize our Construction Division.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our transport fleet, ensuring efficiency, safety and compliance with regulations. This role would suit someone who thrives working in a fast-paced environment and is able to make sound decisions regarding daily operations in a changing environment.
This is a permanent full-time position located at our Brooklyn site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize transport operations, including route planning, vehicle and asset utilisation and driver scheduling.
- Ensure seamless delivery operations, prioritising safety and meeting customer expectations.
- Lead and supervise a team of drivers, providing leadership, guidance and training as needed.
- Monitor and analyse transport metrics and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to OH&S regulations, Mass Management, and Fatigue Management, driving compliance by internal staff and subcontractors.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and repair activities, ensuring fleet readiness and minimising downtime.
- Managing relationships with vendors and partners, negotiating contracts and monitoring performance.
About you:
- Proven experience in transportation management (2 years), with a track record of success in optimising operations and achieving cost savings.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a team.
- Excellent analytically and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data driven decision making.
- In depth knowledge of NHVR laws, safety standards and best practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in transport management software systems and MS suite.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
