Unit: City Infrastructure Division: City Enablers Location: Clearys Gates Employment status: Permanent Full-time Classification: Municipal Officer Level 5 Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2021 Salary range: $112,568 to $121,946 per annum + 12.5% superannuation.
You will also receive commuter rights of a motor vehicle, car spot, plus laptop and mobile phone.
Competitive wages plus 12.5% superannuation.
Commuter use Vehicle, Mobile Phone and Laptop.
Work a 9-day fortnight for a better work/life balance.
About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by leading and coordinating operational teams based at the Cleary’s Gates Depot including Road Maintenance, Road Construction, Works Support Planning and Stormwater Operations as well as undertaking specific duties and responsibilities associated with operational support in response to extreme weather and/or emergency events.
Role accountabilities include:
Lead and coordinate the effective, efficient, and sustainable management of the human and physical resources of the operational team (including Road Maintenance, Capital Works Construction, Road Project Planning, Plant Operations, Stormwater Operations)
Assist with the management of After-Hours Response teams including inductions, equipment maintenance, technical advice and mentoring staff.
Coordinate operational response to extreme weather events and emergency events.
Review and improve Safety Management Systems and actively drive a culture of safety.
Manage construction and operational employees implementing complex projects including supervision of suppliers and contractors.
Research, compile and present technical information in formal reports for senior management.

About you
The desired applicant will have:
Significant experience in managing civil construction projects and teams in a complex organisation.
Diploma level or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field.
Knowledge of safe working practices, including WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, traffic management standards.
A high level of experience in planning and delivery of complex projects, budget management, contract administration and project costing.
Leadership experience with the ability to support, motivate, empower and challenge others.
Well-developed interpersonal skills particularly verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
The ability to problem solve and resolve issues and conflicts with ease.
Well-developed organisation and time management skills.
