This Continuous Applicant Pool is being used to recruit Operations Officers to support Resources State Land Management teams operating out of Resources business centres at Beenleigh, Cairns, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton and Townsville. The Continuous Applicant Pool collects a variety of information that will help to identify potentially suitable applicants for future employment opportunities within the Resources State Land Management team. If deemed suitable, your details will remain in the Applicant Pool for a period of 12 months and should there be an employment opportunity, you will be contacted to discuss the opportunity further.
Additional selection processes (interview, referee and pre-employment checks) to further assess suitability for appointment to a specific position may also be required.
These are field based roles that require:
- The ability to drive a motor vehicle and possession of a current manual driver's licence is essential. The appointee will be required to drive on dirt roads and sand tracks in remote areas.
- Overnight travel to rural locations on a regular basis. This may involve travel outside of normal hours and/or overnight accommodation away from the centre. Operations will be undertaken in remote areas in accordance with relevant organisational policies.
- A positive contribution to workplace equity and diversity in a bid to enrich our culture of respect and inclusion.
The following capabilities are regarded as highly desirable:
- Experience in hazard reduction burning and have Fire Management Level I accreditation.
- Experience in herbicide application and have a licence for commercial application of herbicides or training which will enable a licence to be granted.
- Experience in chainsaw operations and have accreditation for Levels I and II for chainsaw operations.
Applicants who do not hold the accreditations mentioned above will be required to obtain them within 6 months of employment through formal training provided by the department.
