About the role

Our Lake Vermont Project located in Dysart are seeking experienced Drill Operators who are seeking to develop their skills in open cut coal mining. You will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

Working a 7 on and 7 off rotating day/night roster;

• Work in accordance with site’s procedures 
• Accurately check the quality and depth of drill holes and record ground conditions that may affect blasting; 
• Maintain a clean and tidy Drill rig and report/address any maintenance faults; 
• Demonstrate a positive attitude towards regular and reliable drill metres, rig utilisation and consumables usage; 
• Provide neat and complete associated documentation for drill reports and pre-starts checks; 
• Regularly use and active participation in safety assessments; and  
• Be willing to be trained across a variety of drill rigs in the fleet and show an adaptable attitude. 

About you

• To be successful in this role you are required to have:

  • Current experience rotary or top hammer drills
  • Minimum 12 months experience in the mining industry
  • Current Drivers Licence 
  • Current Standard 11
  • A commitment to a positive safety culture 
  • A proactive attitude with the desire to work reliably as part of a world-class team to deliver excellence for our clients 
  • A genuine interest in building a career with Thiess
